What psi are they good to? What other options do i have? The kit i am getting has a 2g mitsu bov that comes with it and is said to hold only 12psi?

Todd?

here's a pic of what it looks like...

2g dsm blows suck hardcore. they will hold up to about 15psi, but they leak bad and suck. if you want to do it another one that is really cheap go and get a 1g bov, can be had for 50 or less and get the flange to adapt to the 2g (25 bucks) or just go ahead and reweld that pipe for a different flange. that bov is really a pos, and i wouldn't put it on the car unless i had to. however it will work for lower boost applications fine

you have tons of options is just whether or not you are willing to weld a new flange on which is really really easy

sometimes you need a bov though, and they sound cool!

I'll put it on to begin with but it'll be one of the first things to go, after i recoupe from all this spending. only run about 8-10psi

If i'm going to have to weld a flange on i might as well get something that is proven not to leak... What's one that will work and not leak (what you would put on your car)? I plan to go to ~16psi, and even higher when i get a motor that can handle it.

I tried to look at them but i dont know what i'm really looking at, as far as which is best suited for me...

btw, i can't weld so i'm going to have to find someone to help me out there

i like the tial race version, but it doesnt have a tube to recirc the air. if your using a MAF and the BOV is venting on the metered side of the MAF it will cause stumbling when you quickly let off the gas. might even stall. the obvious way around that problem is to put the MAF upstream of the BOV. todd just went thru these problems, so mabe he can show you pictures of his setup.

any muffler shop could do the welding for you

the tial bov is hands down the best, but it will not work for your setup, it will be hating life like no other. the bov is made for high boost 20psi+ on my setup its even overkill, well that is until i turn it to 25+ really. the 1g dsm bov is really a great one of the money, tons of people run it on various setups cause it works. it will hold about 20psi-22psi before you "crush" it, then it will hold up to like 27 i believe. if you want to go with another bov there is a ton of choices. it looks like for what you need now just stick with the 2g dsm one then later swap over to a new one when it is needed.

what kind of air metering does your car use?

E, thats what i was thinking i just wasn't 100% sure.

Todd,

It's mass air meter, on a draw-thru type setup.

So i really wouldn't have any problems with the 1g bov, what is "crushing" i've seen mention of that before?

so you have your air sensor on the turbo inlet pipe then right? that is draw though i think, i hate thinking about what is what lol. i now run a blow through setup

crushing is pretty much putting the thing in a vice

I plan to leave the draw-thru in for awhile(until i get really serious, i dont see the point in spending almost 2k on a new ecu) I'd say prob in a month, the biggest hold up right now for me is i need to find a beater car asap, everything is scheduled to be here next week...

got any cheap places to find a 1g bov? other than junkyards..
