this car has a fairly complicated oiling system with a thermostatic bypass sandwich adapter on the motor for a remote mounted oil cooler with an accusump plumbed inline. heres mark getting all the lines clean so he can install them on the car.

we got the dash and center console mostly back together and in the car. this is an RS dash with an STI cluster so that the AC from the RS can be reused. its a real bear to get the AC to work but he will have a nice cold air when we are done. the valve towards the rear of the center console is the shut off for the accusump system.

to meet the rules, we have made a rear firewall for the car. theres an upper section thats been painted flat black to keep teh reflection down inside the car. the main piece just has a wizzwheel finish. the battery and accusump connections terminate thru the firewall.

the next big trick will be trying to figure out how to get these 275's under this car. when you turn the steering wheel they hit on the inside as well as the outside. this is gonna be tricky!

You might have to cut out and re-sheet metal the wheel wells.

still working with the wide tires. the 265 street tires are fitting alright, but the extra width of the 275R tires are gonna reuire some serious love to clear the flair. started cutting the rear as well. should start the welding soon.

heres some pictures of the rear as it comes back together. as it was cut, as it was welded, as it was seamsealed, and as it was undercoated.

the 3.5" stainless exhaust for this car was originally made for an STI so it didnt fit this car really well. we cut and sectioned and rewelded everything so that its tucked up tight to the car and looks great.

strapped her to an AWD dyno, then robbie and i tuned and tuned and tuned some more.... the results were worth it. im sure we could have made more power, with a larger turbo, but we built this thing to run at VIR and we wanted it to come out of the corner HARD. boost has to hit instantly so we went conservative on turbo size and gave up a little top end HP for spoolup. turbo is a garrett GT30R in the stock location with internal wastegate. several things to note..... colder intercoolers make more power, and sometimes less timing = more power.

this is the car sitting at goodwins just before we left to go to the dyno.

this weekend we did a circuit cross event at virginia international raceway. its only about a mile of timed track goodness at a time, so its fairly easy on the cars, and cheap to enter. we felt like it would be a great event to shake the car down and work thru any bugs. had a minor issue with the rear brakes having trash in the caliper, but it was easily fixed at the track, so as soon as the brakes were bled we stuck it right back on the track. the car did great otherwise. it was really exciting to finally see this LONG project finally hit the track. we still have a few minor details to work thru and a few last minute parts still showing up, but for the most part this project is ready to "shake and bake"!
