gonna build another motor for the syclone...... nothing wrong with the old one, just wanted to try some new stuff. gonna call this the "junkyard dog project" bought a really low milage 4.3 ballance shaft motor for $500
gonna use it as a test bed for trying out a new cam, new injectors, and some LS1 valve train parts. mabe it will work, and mabe it wont ..... we will see.

still working out all the details of the valve train, but this much is looking like its gonna work great. this is a PSI LS1 spring with a bigblock chevy titanium retainer and lock. still have to fumble thru installed height, and the rocker combo..... rockers are another wierd experiment altogether.

400hp is about as good as you can do before the factory assembled stuff starts going south. this is a strange combo because the compression is significantly higher than normal (9.5:1) and im using parts that no one has ever tried on a 4.3 V6. the boost will have to be kept low because of the compression. im shooting for somewhere between 6 and 8 psi. so i guess ultimately the HP/TQ will be limited because of the limitations on boost, but i still expect it to run really strong adn have great street maners.

i specked out my own cam and had it custom ground. im gonna call it the "puma cam" hahahaha. the springs, retainers, and 1.7 ratio shaft mounted rockers are all LS1 by design, but im trying to modify the 4.3 heads to accept them. im also using a wierd injector that there are no available chips for, so im gonna have to custom tune it as well. basically....... its a test bed to try out new parts for future race motors. with it being a daily driver im a little concerned about keeping it together, but i dont forsee any problems so far. my only concern is the .560" of lift with this cam/rocker combo. i got richard helping me out tho, so im not scared.

the heads and intake have been removed, and all the garbage off the motor is in the trash can. heres a pic of the head with the shaft mounted rockers removed, but the stock springs/retainers still in place. and another totally dissassembled. (yeah im picture happy) gonna try to get them to the machine shop to be cleaned and media blasted tomorrow so the real fun can begin. custom cam came in today :)

went back over my work with a fine tooth comb and fixed anything that wasnt quite right. removed a casting wart in each of the chambers to lower the compression a little bit. gonna try to CC the chambers this weekend, adn get them pretty close to one another. then i can calculate what my actual compression will be. hopefully it will come down a bit from 9.5:1 then its off to the machine shop with these. if we are lucky there wont be anymore grinding pictures. im ready to bolt this thing together already.
